Nylon, its features and uses
Monday, May 10, 2010 5:39Fabric is the most important part and is available in varied varieties but its usage differs from one another as per the requirements. Cotton, silk, polyester, jute, nylon and etc kinds of fabrics are there and are used in different areas and quantities.
Let’s take nylon as an example, which is a synthetic thermoplastic material with features like good elasticity, strength, high resistance to chemicals and abrasion, low leveled absorbency for moisture and high capacity to be set by heat permanently.
It came into the use as monofilaments for the bristles and for hosiery, as multifilament yarn. Different kinds of nylons are being polyamides quickly developed from dicarboxylic acids and diamines.
Basic features of nylon
Nylon is stronger from within but without any weight in comparison to other commodities that use fiber. It is resilient, elastic and even responsive to the high heat setting. These kinds of fibers like nylon have intensity to be dried very quickly. It is smooth and is non-absorbent. Pilling can be caused to the fabric in can of hard drying in automatic dryer and extensive washing. It can be dyed and even pre-colored in a vivid range of colors.
Uses of nylon
It is being manufactured in different forms of coatings, molded plastics, and sheets and is used in different types of products that include threads, mosquito netting, insulating wire coverings, fabrics, surgical sutures, screening, rope, tire cords, bearings and gears.
Nylon can burn very quickly if prone to fire so it should be kept away from it. Use gently and safely.
